for their effort to protect their neighbors, their homes and families
► Have your friends drop you off at your door and wait until you enter your home
► Be alert when you are walking home after dark
► Leave your front porch light ON at night (a CFL bulb saves energy)
► The more 911 calls that the police receive, the quicker they respond
► How do you make an effective call to the police/911?

If you are calling from a cell phone be sure to give the address where you need the police to go to,
unlike calling 911 from landlines, cell phones do not automatically give out your address.
Speak clearly. Do not give the dispatcher a hard time I.E. " You work for me, I pay taxes
so I pay your salary".... This is not going to get the police to your location any quicker
X NEVER say that someone has a gun ( or a weapon of any kind) when it's not true in hopes of getting the police there quicker. True, they will respond quickly, but not only you will be arrested for making a false report, but you tie up police services that are needed for TRUE emergencies
X NEVER call your alarm company ( if you have a house alarm )if the alarm goes off and you believe there is someone in the house. CALL 911!► How safe is your street or neighborhood?
